Multi-Dog Boarding — Keep Your Pack Together

Got two dogs? Three? You're not alone — a lot of Auburn families have multi-dog households, and figuring out boarding for all of them at once can feel like a whole extra project. At Kiesel Bark Pet Resort, we've been boarding dogs from multi-dog families since 2014. Our large kennels can hold up to 3 dogs from the same family together, which keeps your pups comfortable, cuts down on your cost, and means drop-off and pickup is one stop — not two.

Multi-Dog Boarding in Auburn, AL

When you've got more than one dog, boarding gets complicated fast. Do they stay together or separate? Will the facility actually have space for both? Is it going to cost a fortune? These are real questions Auburn pet parents ask us all the time, and we've got straightforward answers.

Our kennels are big enough that two or even three dogs from the same family can share one comfortably. Most bonded dogs — dogs that live together and sleep near each other at home — do much better when they board together. They're less anxious, they settle in faster, and they're just generally happier knowing their buddy is right there. We've seen it over and over.

And honestly, it's easier on you too. One drop-off, one pickup, one bill. If you've ever had to coordinate two separate boarding facilities or worry about dogs being separated for the first time, you know how stressful that can get. We try to keep things simple for multi-dog families.

Multi-Dog Boarding Pricing

We keep our pricing straightforward. No complicated packages, no surprise fees.

First Dog

$26
per night

Each Additional Dog

$15
per night, same kennel
same family

Kennel Max

3
dogs per kennel
no exceptions

Medication

$1
per administration,
per dog

Example pricing for two dogs: Boarding two dogs together for a 3-night trip comes out to $123 total — $26 for the first dog plus $15 for the second, times 3 nights. Compare that to paying full price at two separate facilities and you can see why Auburn families with multiple dogs tend to stick with us.

Sibling Pet Boarding

When we say "sibling boarding," we mean dogs from the same household that are used to each other's company. This is different from just putting two random dogs in the same space — we only keep dogs together when they actually live together and know each other. That's the setup that works, and it's the only one we do for shared kennels.

Most sibling pairs and groups transition into boarding with way less stress than dogs boarding solo for the first time. There's a familiar smell, a familiar face, and that goes a long way when a dog is in an unfamiliar place. We've boarded two-dog and three-dog households where one dog was a total pro at boarding and the other was new to it — having the experienced dog there seemed to settle the anxious one down pretty fast.

  • Kennels large enough for 2–3 dogs from the same family
  • Dogs board together only when they live together
  • Individual feeding if dogs eat different foods or amounts
  • Medication administered separately per dog's schedule ($1 per dose)
  • Same outdoor play access as solo boarders — they don't miss out
  • Staff monitors group dynamics and can separate if needed

Common Multi-Dog Households We See

Every multi-dog household is a little different. The American Kennel Club points out that dogs of different sizes, ages, and energy levels each bring their own considerations when living together — and that carries over into boarding too. Here's what we typically see from Auburn families with multiple dogs:

Two dogs, same breed

Littermates or same-breed pairs board together really well. They're usually bonded tight and get anxious when separated. Keeping them together is almost always the right call.

Two dogs, different sizes

A big dog and a small dog from the same family can absolutely share a kennel — they do it at home. Our kennels have enough room that size difference usually isn't an issue.

Senior dog + younger dog

Older dogs sometimes need a bit more downtime than their younger housemates. We keep an eye on this and can adjust play time and rest separately if needed while they still share a kennel.

Three-dog households

Three dogs from the same family in one kennel — we can do that, and it's the max we allow. Works well for established packs that are used to being together all the time.

Dog Boarding for Families Traveling Together

A lot of the multi-dog families we see are leaving town for the same reason — Auburn football road trips, Thanksgiving, Christmas, spring break, summer vacations. When the whole family is headed out, the dogs need somewhere to go, and they need to go together.

We've been boarding the "whole pack" for Auburn families for over a decade. Some families have been with us for years — they've added dogs, lost dogs, and we've been there through all of it. When you've got a reliable spot that can handle your whole crew, that's one less thing to stress about when you're trying to get out of town.

Book early for game weekends and holidays: Multi-dog boarding requests fill up our larger kennel spaces faster than anything else. If you're traveling over a home football weekend, Thanksgiving, or Christmas, don't wait. Call us as soon as your plans are set.

What to Bring When Boarding Multiple Dogs

Dropping off two or three dogs at once goes smoother when you come prepared. A few things that help:

  • Vaccination records for each dog (Rabies, Bordetella, and DHPP must be current for all)
  • Each dog's food, clearly labeled with their name and feeding instructions
  • Any medications in separate containers, labeled per dog with dosage and schedule
  • Let us know upfront if any of the dogs have different dietary needs, health issues, or temperament quirks
  • If one dog has boarded with us before but another hasn't, mention that — it helps us plan the intro

You don't need to bring beds or toys, but if a particular item helps one of your dogs settle in, feel free to bring it. Some dogs have a blanket or stuffed animal they like — we're happy to keep it in the kennel with them.

What Auburn Multi-Dog Families Ask Us

My dogs sleep together at home — will they actually be kept together at your facility?

Yes, that's exactly the setup. Dogs from the same household share a kennel, same as they share space at home. We don't split up dogs that live together unless there's a specific reason to — like a health issue or a behavior concern that comes up during the stay.

What if my dogs eat different food or have different feeding schedules?

Not a problem. Just bring each dog's food labeled with their name and feeding instructions. We feed them separately if needed so nobody's eating the wrong thing or getting too much or too little.

One of my dogs is fine in group play but the other is shy — how does that work?

We handle this all the time. Shy or reserved dogs don't have to do group play if it's not their thing. We can give them one-on-one time and outdoor time separately while the more social dog joins the group. They still share a kennel — just different play arrangements during the day.

Can I board three dogs together?

Yes — three dogs from the same family in one kennel is the max we allow, and we do it regularly for three-dog households. Just call ahead so we can confirm we have the right kennel space available for your dates.

What if my dogs don't always get along perfectly — is that a problem?

It depends. Most dogs that live together have occasional spats but generally do fine. If your dogs have had serious fights at home, we'd want to know about that before booking. Give us a call and we can talk through it — we'd rather know upfront than have a situation come up during the stay.

How much does it cost to board two dogs for a week?

Two dogs for 7 nights comes out to $287 total — $26 for the first dog plus $15 for the second, times 7 nights. That's a solid value compared to paying full price for two separate spots, and your dogs get to stay together the whole time.

Why Auburn Multi-Dog Families Choose Kiesel Bark

There aren't many boarding facilities in the Auburn area that are set up well for multi-dog households. Some places charge full price for every dog regardless of shared kennels. Some don't have kennels big enough to comfortably fit two dogs. Some just aren't experienced handling the dynamics of bonded pairs or small packs.

We've been doing this since 2014, and multi-dog families have been a big part of our client base from the beginning. We've got the space, the pricing structure, and the experience to handle your whole crew. And because we're a local, family-owned operation — not a big chain — we actually get to know your dogs. After a few visits, your dogs aren't strangers to us. That matters when you've got multiple personalities to keep track of.

We're located at 633 Chadwick Lane in Auburn, right across from Kiesel Park. Easy to get to from anywhere in Auburn or Opelika, with on-site parking and no complicated campus traffic to deal with.
