Full-Service Dog Grooming — Head to Tail, Done Right

Your dog puts up with a lot — Alabama summers, muddy yards, long car rides. At some point they just need a proper bath, a clean-up, and some attention from people who know what they're doing. Kiesel Bark Pet Resort has been providing full-service dog grooming in Auburn since 2014. Experienced groomers, a calm environment, and a facility that's clean and well-maintained. Your dog comes in looking like they've had a rough week and leaves looking and feeling like themselves again.

Full-Service Dog Grooming in Auburn, AL

A full groom at Kiesel Bark covers everything your dog needs in one appointment — bath, blow dry, haircut, nail trim, and ear cleaning. You drop off, we take care of the whole thing, you pick up a clean dog. No scheduling a bath separately from a trim. No piecing together multiple appointments. One visit, complete service.

Our groomers have been working with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments for years. They know the difference between a dog that needs a light trim and one that needs a complete style, between a dog that's totally calm on the grooming table and one that needs a little extra patience. We take our time. We don't rush through appointments because there are ten more dogs waiting. Every dog gets the attention they need.

We're part of the same facility as our boarding and daycare operation, which means grooming can be combined with a boarding stay or a daycare day easily. Drop your dog off for boarding, schedule a groom during the stay, and pick up a clean dog at the end. A lot of Auburn families do exactly that.

Pet Grooming

Our full grooming service includes a bath with blow dry, a cut styled to your dog's breed or your preference, nail trimming, and ear cleaning. This is everything most dogs need for a complete groom, all in one appointment. Grooming is priced by weight:

Dog Weight Full Groom Price Includes
0–20 lbs $45 Bath, cut, nails, ears
21–45 lbs $55 Bath, cut, nails, ears
46–60 lbs $65 Bath, cut, nails, ears
61–75 lbs $70 Bath, cut, nails, ears
76–90 lbs $75 Bath, cut, nails, ears
91+ lbs $85 Bath, cut, nails, ears

Dog Grooming and Styling

Every dog's coat is different, and every owner has different preferences for how their dog should look. Some Auburn families want a breed-standard cut. Others want something practical — short enough to stay clean, easy to maintain between appointments. We work with you on that. Tell us what you want when you drop off and our groomers will make it happen.

We handle all coat types — smooth short coats, thick double coats, curly coats, wiry terrier coats, long flowing coats. If you've got a specific style in mind, a reference photo helps. If you just want your dog cleaned up and looking good, we'll use our judgment based on your dog's coat and what's practical for their lifestyle.

Dog Bathing and Blow Dry

A proper bath is the foundation of any good groom. We use quality shampoos and conditioners suited to each dog's coat type, and every dog gets a thorough blow dry — no damp dogs going home to sit in a crate and get matted. The blow dry is part of the process, not an add-on.

If your dog just needs a bath without a full groom, we offer that too as a separate service. See our full pet grooming services page for just baths pricing and all available grooming add-ons.

Additional Grooming Services

Deshedding Treatment

A deshedding shampoo and rinse that loosens and removes the dead undercoat before it ends up all over your house. Priced by coat length — $15 for short hair, $20 for medium, $25 for long hair. Worth every dollar for high-shed breeds.

Nail Trimming

Available as a standalone service for $10. If your dog just needs their nails done between full grooming appointments, this is a quick, easy visit. Long nails affect how a dog walks and can cause joint issues over time — it's one of those things worth keeping up with.

Ear Cleaning

Included in the full groom. Clean ears reduce the risk of infection, especially for dogs with floppy ears that trap moisture. Our groomers check and clean ears as part of every full grooming appointment.

Dog Anal Gland Expression

Available as a grooming add-on. Anal gland issues are uncomfortable for dogs and can become serious if left unaddressed. If your vet has recommended regular expression or your dog is showing signs of discomfort, we can handle it during the grooming appointment.

Dematting

For coats with matting that can be worked through without a full shave down. $10–$20 depending on severity. Severe matting that can't be safely dematted will require a shave down instead — we'll let you know upfront if that's the case.

Flea Cleanse

A flea cleansing bath using appropriate shampoo to remove fleas and their residue. $15. If your dog needs Capstar flea treatment in addition to the cleansing bath, that's available for $10 as a grooming add-on.

Medicated Baths

For dogs with skin conditions, allergies, or dermatological issues that require medicated shampoo. If your vet has recommended medicated bathing, bring the shampoo or let us know what's been prescribed and we can discuss options.

Shave Down

For severely matted coats, overgrown fur causing skin irritation, or dogs that need a complete reset. We handle shave downs with patience and care — it's not a punishment, it's a fresh start. Common for rescue dogs and neglected coats.

Combining grooming with boarding: If your dog is boarding with us, scheduling a groom during the stay is easy. Your dog gets cleaned up before pickup so you go home with a freshly groomed pup. Just mention it when you book the boarding stay and we'll coordinate the timing.

Face Trim and Sanitary Trim

Face trims keep hair out of your dog's eyes and give them a cleaner look between full grooming appointments. Sanitary trims keep the areas around the hindquarters clean and hygienic — particularly important for longer-coated dogs. Both are available as standalone services or as part of a full groom.

If your dog's face is growing over their eyes or they're having visibility issues, don't wait for a full groom appointment — a quick face trim can be done on its own. Give us a call at (334) 734-2650 to schedule.

Matted Coat Removal

Matting is one of the most common grooming problems we see, especially in Auburn's humid climate. Mats are more than cosmetic — they pull on the skin, trap moisture and bacteria, and can become painful if left long enough. The longer matting is ignored, the worse it gets.

We assess every matted coat before the appointment and tell you honestly what we can do. Minor to moderate matting can often be worked through. Severe matting that's close to the skin will need a shave down — it's the kindest option for the dog even if it's not what the owner was hoping for. We'll walk you through what we find and get your input before we do anything.

The AKC has a useful guide on preventing mats in dog fur that covers why regular grooming and brushing makes such a difference — worth reading if your dog is mat-prone between appointments.

What Auburn Dog Owners Ask About Grooming

How do I schedule a grooming appointment?

Call us at (334) 734-2650 during business hours — Monday through Friday 7am to 6pm, Saturday 7am to noon. We'll set up an appointment time that works for your schedule. Grooming appointments tend to book out, especially on Saturdays, so calling a week or more ahead is a good idea.

How long does a full groom take?

It depends on the size of your dog and the condition of their coat, but most full grooms take a few hours. We'll give you an estimated pickup time when you drop off. Plan to leave your dog with us for at least half a day — grooming isn't something we rush.

My dog is anxious about grooming — can you handle that?

Yes. Nervous groomers are something we deal with regularly. Our groomers are patient and experienced with dogs that don't love the table. We go at their pace, take breaks when needed, and don't force anything that's causing serious distress. If your dog has a history of grooming anxiety, mention it when you book so we can plan accordingly.

Do you groom all breeds?

We groom a wide range of breeds. If you have a breed with specific grooming requirements or a show cut, call ahead and describe what you need so we can confirm we're the right fit for your dog. For most family pets, we can handle whatever the coat calls for.

Can I drop off for grooming and boarding on the same day?

Yes — that's actually a pretty common arrangement. Drop off for a boarding stay, we schedule the groom during the stay, and your dog goes home clean. It's convenient and your dog doesn't have to make a separate trip. Just coordinate both when you book.

What vaccinations does my dog need for a grooming appointment?

Same as boarding — Rabies, Bordetella, and DHPP must be current. This applies to all dogs coming into our facility, grooming included. It protects your dog and every other dog in the building.
